On Tuesday 30th September 2014 Rich Mix hosted an unforgettable evening of live music, spoken word and eclectic jams to raise funds for both the Muslim Institute and resident company Numbi Arts!
The evening included a charity auction of exclusive art by some of the best contemporary Muslim and diasporic artists in the UK –
global artist Mohammed Ali (Aerosolarabic), award-winning Rachel Gadsden and the extraordinary Muiz.
The event also included a Numbi Family drum, song, dance and poetic jam session titled 'Future Riddims'. Jonathan Andre and Joshua Brandler, musicians from The Grand Union Orchestra attended the night, along with the wonderful Ethiopian-German songstress Tsega Tebege and Afro-Drummers Nadia Al Faghih Hasan and Freddy Macha.
Performing in his own particular style, the celebrated London-based band Farid Adjazairi kicked off the evening with an ensemble of singer/songwriters, oud, guitar and drum players from Algeria.
Numbi resident artists and poets Dorothea Smartt and Elmi Ali also shared their spoken word!
