This event will explore the ways that secularism is weaponised by the State to further marginalise communities that are already oppressed. The Inclusive Mosque Initiative will look at where the concept of secularism came from and how it has been mobilised by both the religious and non-religious to justify certain kinds of power, and certain types of violence.
This #RaiseYourGaze event has been created in collaboration with Kent Law School and Birkbeck Centre for Research on Race and Law and our speakers include Huma Dar, Suhraiya Jivraj, Azeezat Johnson, Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan, Ziba Mir-Hosseini, Michael Mumisa and Fatima Seedat. The day will be comprised of panel discussions, Q&A sessions and time for lunch and reflections. I
