Muslim Institute inaugural monthly gathering: Ziauddin Sardar Reading the Qur'an

When

Saturday 18 Jun 2011, 14:00 — 18:00

Where

Muslim Institute
CAN Mezzanine, 49-51 East Road, Old Street, London N1 6AH

The first Muslim Institute monthly gathering will be on Saturday 18 June. It will be an opportunity to discuss Reading the Qur’an, the recently published book by Ziauddin Sardar. The event will be chaired by Professor Waqar Ahmad.

Ziauddin Sardar

Zia needs no introduction, having been instrumental in establishing the Muslim Institute in its original and now revamped form. His latest publication, which builds upon the blogs he wrote for the Guardian presents a personal engagement with sacred text. It addresses the most pressing question face Muslims today: how we engage with, understand and derive contemporary significance from the Qur’an.

This is a timely and fortuitous inauguration of the topical and flexible format we aim to develop in our monthly gatherings. It will be held at our London premises from 2pm to 6pm on June 18. We encourage you to bring along friends and colleagues.

Venue: 49-51 East Road, London, N1 6AH.
