The Muslim Institute is delighted to host a launch event for CM17: Extreme.
To celebrate Critical Muslim's new online digital subscription facility, offering access to over 350 articles from the CM archive, Fellows, friends and subscribers are invited to meet the team behind Critical Muslim at the launch of the latest issue.
Speakers will include Editor Ziauddin Sardar explaining why he thinks extremism is an expected product of our complex and chaotic postnormal times, Anne Alexander will discuss her essay on the origins of ISIS and Deputy Editor Samia Rahman will introduce a series of readings.
Critical Muslim is devoted to examining issues within Islam and Muslim societies, providing a Muslim perspective on the great debates of contemporary times, and promoting dialogue, cooperation and collaboration between ‘Islam’ and other cultures, including ‘the West.’ We aim to be innovative, thought-provoking and forward looking, a space for debate between Muslims, and others, on religious, social, cultural and political issues concerning the Muslim world and Muslims in the world.
