Halima Gosai Hussain comes from a diverse religious background; her mother and father have roots in the Hindi tradition and Islam, respectively. She has a degree in Philosophy & Theology from King’s College London and an MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), where her research focused on feminist hermenutics of the Qur'an. She is Chair of the Inclusive Mosque Initiative, a radical women-led organisation that creates alternative spaces for Muslim prayer that centre the voices of those who are often marginalised in mainstream spaces. Hipster turmeric lattes annoy her.
